What constitutes a Jewish carpet? Is it the craftsperson, the imagery or how it is used?

Our latest exhibition, Woven Memory explores the significant role that rugs play in transmitting Jewish culture across time. It displays a selection of antique Persian-style carpets from the Cadry family collection – the family who introduced the ancient knowledge and appreciation for hand-knotted Persian rugs to Australia.

70 years since the family’s arrival in Australia, join us online in hearing Bob Cadry in discussion with Museum curator Shannon Biederman. They will unpack the Cadry story, spanning across the world, from Iran to Australia.
