Sydney Science Festival presents a celebration of the gum tree to coincide with the launch of the Eucalyptusdom publication and In Relation, a podcast that reveals how we can learn with, and from, trees.
Listen to experts Victor Steffensen, Professor Belinda Medlyn and Dr Rebecca Jordan discuss how the survival of the iconic eucalypt is tied to our own survival. Experience newly commissioned work by Janet Laurence, with Dirt Witches and collaborators under the direction of Lizzie Thomson, as well as the launch of a new scent by Anna May Kirk and Ainslie Walker.

Spelling Seeds is a new site-specific performance artwork by Janet Laurence, with Dirt Witches, The Tree Veneration Society and other collaborators, under the direction of choreographer Lizzie Thomson. The work is commissioned by Powerhouse as part of Eucalyptusdom.

7.15pm: WRITING IN FOCUS
Eucalyptusdom artists Julie Gough and Luna Mrozik-Gawler reflect on how writing forms part of their creative practice .
7.30pm: SENTINELS OF A CHANGING CLIMATE
Our panel of leading scientists and experts — Victor Steffensen, Professor Belinda Medlyn and Dr Rebecca Jordan — discuss how the survival of the iconic eucalypt is tied to our own survival in the face of the worst climate crisis in nearly 12,000 years.
