Sydneysiders get the chance to experience the best of Hong Kong…. without ever setting a foot on a plane!

2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) with the theme of "A New Era – Stability, Prosperity, Opportunity".

Experience HK is on for one day only. This great day out will be filled with the amazing sights, tastes and sounds of Hong Kong, from the ever-popular lion dance to Cantopop songs, plus a vast array of performances including martial arts, tai chi, Cantonese opera, live band, children’s performances, and musicians showcasing traditional Chinese instruments.

Sumptuous HK food will be available all day including traditional har gow and siu mai (prawn and pork dumplings), BBQ pork buns, egg tarts with HK-style milk tea and mango pudding, plus popular classics: fried rice, wonton noodle soup, vegetable dumplings, salt & pepper calamari and, for a limited period, free spring rolls. The list goes on – including new favourites such as the Instagram-famous egg waffle ice cream and the oh-so-messy-but-so-tasty molten lava custard buns… there’ll be something for everyone. And the kids will love the free fairy floss available on first come first served basis while stock lasts.

For families with young kids, or even just to indulge your “inner child”, lots of fun and free activities will be available including a Lego pit and pop-up playground, with prizes galore, cuddly roaming mascots, magnetic fishing, spin the wheel, Chinese knot making, paper cutting and much more.

For those craving for a bit of history, art and culture, a cool infinity tunnel will show you images of famous Hong Kong landmarks in the 1950s contrasted with those of today. For kids and adults alike, there will be free rides on two vintage Hong Kong double-decker buses (the only ones of their kind in Australia) and multiple Instagram walls bringing you instantly to Hong Kong – an excellent opportunity for some fun and creative selfies!
